The body uses glucosamine sulfate, a natural compound, to stimulate cells to create one of the main building blocks of joint cartilage -- proteoglycans. Chondroitin sulfate attracts and holds large amounts of water to the cartilage-building proteoglycan molecules. Since cartilage has no blood supply, this fluid is necessary to nourish and lubricate joints. MSM (methylsulfonylmethane, or dimethyl sulfone) is a sulfur-containing molecule found in various plants and some body tissues. It is a natural and efficient source of the sulfur that is used by many of the body#146;s structural molecules, including joint cartilage. Many medical studies have found these nutrients to be useful for promoting healthy joint function. It is important to understand that most studies have used the Glucosamine Sulfate form versus HCl and other cheaper forms. We do not recommend using non-sulfate forms because they may not work as well.
